I have looked at and lusted over the beautiful colors of the Planet Earth over-dyed silk that you just started to carry, but never had the opportunity to use them until recently.
I tried them for the first time in a design that used both upright and diagonal stitches. I used four strands and got excellent coverage on the upright, and a smooth look on the diagonal. The over-dye variation in the color that I chose (V1143 Mud) was subtle but I could see the changes when the section was complete. The over-all look was very neat and smooth and I was very pleased with the effect in my piece. The silk plies easily and cooperates very nicely with a laying tool (I used both a trolley needle and a wooden laying tool). I am bad about stitching with too-long of a length, and the Plant Earth silk hung on like a champ, didn’t fray or fuzz from all the friction of going through the canvas threads. The colors are beautiful and rich and I really enjoyed stitching with this new thread, it is certainly one that I will consider for future projects.
