Hi again!

Homestead Needle Arts will be closed this Saturday, September 2 for the Labor Day weekend.  I WILL be open this Friday, September 1 and will re-open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5.  I’m so excited for a 3 day weekend!

Back to School!…Needlepoint Classes

There are occasional openings in the Wednesday canvas embellishment classes.  Please call me at 810-694-3040 or come in to sign up.  You must pre-pay the non-refundable fee of $15 upon sign up.  Classes are held Wednesday from 2-3:30.  I’ll help you with any canvas in your stash or choose a new one and get excited about needlepoint again!

New Items

I’ve been adding lots of new items to the Homestead website.  New items include magnets from Accoutrement Designs, new Halloween canvases from Kate Dickerson and a restock on the popular Stitch and Zip kits – perfect for giving or making yourself as a gift when you don’t have finishing time.  Be sure to take a look.  Suzy’s Lite Stitches, Suzy’s Darn Stitches and Suzy’s Small Stitches are back in stock after finally being re-printed.  We haven’t had these in stock for several years so check your needlepoint library and see if you need to add to it.

Trunk Show

Our wonderful Retired Painted Pony Trunk Show is leaving us and coming in next week is Lizzie Clark.  She has recently been picked up by The Collection so her artwork has been translated into needlepoint.  I saw these at Market and thought that these designs are PERFECT for needlepoint – lots of easy open areas, repeating icons and much more.  Here is a sampling of her items and there will be more in the Trunk Show.

Leaf Stitching

Our next Leaf stitch along is Tuesday, September 19 from 10-1.  The latest magazine is being delivered now with the next to last installment of leaves.  Are you keeping up?  I’m not!  I think I have about 30 stitched and 12 finished altogether.  I do find these little projects addictive though.  Remember how I said my leaves would make a great sunflower?  Well this month’s Needlepoint Now issue did just that!  So don’t despair!  Your leaves can be made into a smaller wreath, a flower or clever ornaments on a wire tree.  But wait there’s more!  Check out your magazine to see what they have planned for next year’s stitch-alongs!

For you Skye fans, here’s a little picture of her with her new favorite toy from her Aunt Chris.  It’s a racing piggy!  For some reason she hasn’t torn this apart – I guess latex toys are better for my little shredding machine.

Hope to see you soon.  Have a restful holiday weekend!
