It’s here! The Whimsy and Grace Trunk Show arrived Friday…all 48 lbs. of it! Yes, that’s a LOT of canvas. There are some stitched samples too and I’m in awe of the beautiful tote/luggage bag they sent. It’s a must see. The finishing is fantastic and I’ll have to ask who finished it in case you want to purchase the canvas and stitch your own. There are the totes, purses, brick covers, stockings, ornaments, tree toppers, eyeglass cases, scissor cases, needle cases, eggs, pillows…and they are beautifully stitch painted.
Following are the You Tube videos in case you can’t make it into the shop to see the show in person. There is a LOT to see and once again, I read the numbers for you…and sometimes get tongue-tied in doing so.

New Beginner Book!
Janet Perry, the author of Nuts about Needlepoint blog and several other books, has written a new book for beginners called Right From the Beginning. This would be a great gift for a friend learning to needlepoint or a teen/twenties just starting to learn. The book covers all the basics, explaining the different types of designs such as painted, line-drawn and charted, types of canvases, tools, threads, ten basic stitches, bargello, and includes five great starter projects! At just $15, this book is a great tool for your favorite beginner.
Shop Sample Sale
Sometimes I make shop samples and then the designer stops making that particular design. Sometimes I’ve stitched something for the shop and never had it framed or finished. So just in time for the holidays, I’m going to go through all the shop samples and put them in a special area for sale! Starting this Friday, 11/11/22, I’ll put out some items that you may be interested in for yourself or for holiday gift giving. Online friends, let me know if you have any interest in seeing them as I can post them on my website too.
During Thanksgiving week, I will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10-4 and SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY from 10-2 – note the shorter hours on Saturday. I do have family visiting so I’ll be spending some time with them which I know you won’t begrudge me! Feel free to come in and shop yourself silly on those 3 days.
SALE Canvases
New canvases continue to arrive from Market orders and I have to make room. I’ll be placing MORE CANVASES on sale over the next two months. The end of the year is coming and you know, I DON’T WANT TO COUNT THEM! Be sure to keep an eye on the SALE AREA of my website.
Needlepoint Now NEW Year Long Stitch Club
Needlepoint Now has new owners, Andrea Santiamo, Marisa Santiamo, and Karen Sanicola, and they are hitting the ground running! They’ve announced a year long stitch club called Wreath of Leaves by Kam Wenzloff, a long time contributor to Needlepoint Now. There will be 10 leaves in the six 2023 issues of Needlepoint Now. They’re inviting everybody to join the fun and bring some happiness to our lives. The instructions, thread suggestions and finishing will be included in the articles. Several people have already said that they’ll be changing theirs from the suggested greens to fall foliage colors. Wouldn’t that be spectacular? I’m also thinking that instead of a wreath, you could do a wonderful “bunting” of leaves! At the end of the year, we’ll all have a beautiful stitched wreath (or bunting) with a variety of threads and stitches. This is a great opportunity to use your stash threads!
What will you need? All six issues of Needlepoint Now in 2023 whether you subscribe or purchase from Homestead Needle Arts, (please advise if you’ll be purchasing here so I can have enough copies). A little less than 2 yards of 18 ct. canvas in your choice of colors, they suggested white, ecru or green. There are 56 leaves and they suggest 5 x 5 squares of canvas. Each leaf is worked on one piece of canvas but you could easily cut a bigger piece and combine several on one piece. Stretcher bars, regular stitching tools and a #4 pencil to outline leaves. There will be 55 large leaves and 5 small leaves. The wreath will measure 18 x 18″ and the base of the wreath is 15-1/2 x 15-1/2″.
Sounds like a great project to me! Let me know as soon as you can if you want to join in, if you need the magazine issues, if you need the canvas and what color, etc. so that you’ll be ready in January. Email or call me, homesteadneedle@sbcglobal.net, 810-694-3040. A monthly date to stitch your leaves can be discussed in the future.
Last but not Least
If I don’t “talk to you before then, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be sure to appreciate your family and friends!
